Tycho Brahe's Silver Nose

The greatest naked-eye astronomer in history lost his nose in a duel at age 20 over a mathematical dispute. He wore a prosthetic metal nose for the rest of his life — and still compiled the most accurate star catalogue of the pre-telescope
